Donations to MPs from sources linked to the private healthcare sector should be BANNED - please sign if you agree.

Dear Party Leaders, Senior Party Representatives and Independent Members of Parliament
We are writing today from the non-profit campaigning organisation EveryDoctor, which advocates for NHS staff, patients, and the future of the NHS.
The practice of MPs accepting donations from people and organisations linked to the private healthcare sector must end immediately. These donations have the potential to create a conflict of interest that in turn could threaten the fundamental principles of our public healthcare system.
When the public votes for Members of Parliament (MPs), we are trusting them to make decisions which are best for the public, not for wealthy donors and corporations. But EveryDoctor’s new research, found here https://privatisation.everydoctor.org.uk/, shows that organisations and individuals linked to the private healthcare sector are giving large donations to our politicians. This raises serious questions about whether these donations might influence decisions made about our National Health Service (NHS).
Our research reveals something very alarming: that more than £2.7m of donations made to MPs between January 2023 and March 2025 came from individuals and organisations linked to the private healthcare sector — enough to fund 90 NHS nurses for a full year. Most concerning, Health Secretary Wes Streeting alone received £224,575 from individuals and organisations with ties to the private healthcare sector.
The NHS belongs to everyone, and it was created to provide healthcare based on medical need, not ability to pay. If those linked to private healthcare gain influence over our politicians through donations, it puts this fundamental principle at risk. We must ensure that decisions about our health service are made in the interest of the public’s health, not private wealth. This is why we conducted and published our research, and this is why we’re writing to you now.
We are reaching out to you as the leader, co-leader, or senior representative of your political party within Westminster, or you have been elected as an Independent Member of Parliament.
As a political leader, we are asking you, your colleagues and your party to take urgent action to change this situation.
All donations made by private healthcare sector interests to MPs must be prohibited. While not all politicians currently accept such donations, every MP has a responsibility to take immediate action to ban this practice. The integrity of our NHS and public trust in our democratic institutions demand nothing less.
We request a meeting to identify concrete steps toward ending these donations and restoring public faith in our political system. The future of our NHS depends on ensuring decisions about public healthcare are made free from private sector influence.
Yours,
Dr Julia Patterson
